Animals give us pure love and a reason to smile every day. They have a pawsitive impact of mental health and provide emotional support and comfort through life's many challenges. 

Growing up we had many different dogs but I never really thought about the ones in need of loving homes. 

When my daughters were still pre schoolers we became a foster family for abandoned and injured cats and kittens. That journey lasted more than a decade and provided many lessons and valuable experiences about caring for vulnerable animals. We learned about many cat personalities and their unique needs. 

I've had the privilege of many visits to the Ottawa Humane Society shelter at 245 West Hunt Club to see dedicated staff and volunteers in action. They are creating safe spaces for vulnerable animals and communities through outreach and education. 

The OHS offers many programs and services for animal lovers feom behavioural workshop to help create better relationships with pets to fun kids camps.
